The first jump course you sit through about 6 hours of ground school training then do a couple hours of practical training when you arrive at the drop zone and then you go up to 3,000 feet time out on in the wing of the airplane hang and then let go and as soon as you let go of the airplane the instructor opens your own parachute for you and you get talked down on radio, and the radio guy on the ground will guide you in to tell you when the flare so you have a nice soft landing.
